| Abstract: | The large corpus of didactic rock edicts of Mauryan Emperor Ashoka is a storehouse of direct communication between him and his subjects. This is one of the rare instances in the world history. Engraved in different languages, dialects and scripts, the edicts reveal the thoughts of the emperor regarding harmony peace and administration in his temporal as well as ecclesiastical realm. |
