India is the world's second-largest producer of rice, and the largest exporter of rice in the world. Approximately one-fifth of the total world production of rice is cultivated in India. Production has been increased during the last seventy years by six times from 20.58 million tones (1950-51) to 120 million tones during 2020-21. The yield was 668 kg/ha in 1950-51 which has increased to 2638 kg/ha during 2018-19. In the present paper, an attempt has been made to study the production trend and growth rate for Paddy crop using Statistical Methods. County-wise analysis has also been carried out for paddy producing counties in the world. The future projection for production and productivity have been worked using statistical formulae. Strategies for enhancing the rice production has also been suggested.
