Introduction:- Occupations like sewing machine have prolong sitting work. In seated position, hamstring is held at shortened position due to knee flexion and posterior pelvic rotation. In prolong sitting this constant shortened position develops hamstring trigger points and cause muscle tightness.
Method:- A correlational study was conducted among sewing machine operators age group between 20 to -65 years old in Jalgaon city. Total 55 subjects were recruited by convenient sampling method on the basis of inclusion and exclusion criteria and subjects’ presence of hamstring tightness. Number of male patients is 27 and number of female patients is 28. Passive knee extension test was used to check hamstring tightness. A KEA of 20 deg. has been defined as a cut off score indicating hamstring muscle tightness. Therefore, KEA >20 0 hamstring muscle tightness.
Result :- In this study, Minitab 13 software was used. Mean age is 41.44 with SD is 21.29. Mean working hours is 9.12 with SD 2.06. Mean working years is 15.67 with SD 11.33. Mean Passive knee extension test (right) is 25.67 with SD 3.36. Mean Passive knee extension test (left) is 25.76 with SD 3.69. The Karl Pearson Correlation coefficient was used to evaluate relation between passive knee extension test(PKET) with age, working hours and working years. According to Karl Pearson coefficient correlation, there is positive correlation between hamstring tightness with age, working hours and working years.
Conclusion :- Positive correlation found between Passive knee extension test and age, working hours and working years. Hence, The present study concluded that as age working hours and working years increases hamstring tightness also increases.
