ABSTRACT
Introduction: A quantitative research approach with descriptive research design was used for this study. Electrocardiogram (ECG) is an important first line investigation that records the electrical activity of the heart.
Objectives: To assess the knowledge in recording ECG among under graduate third year B.Sc. nursing students. To assess the self reported practice’s in recording ECG among under graduate third year B.Sc. nursing students. To find the association between selected demographic variable and knowledge regarding recording ECG among undergraduate third year B.Sc Nursing students.
Methodology: Data was collected from 50 third year B.Sc Nursing students using semi-structured Questionnaire, and close format questions to assess self-reported practices through yes, no type questions by non-probability convenient sampling method. Data collection was done with Google form and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics.
Result: Majority 38(76%) were found in the age group of 21-22 years of age, majority of the students are female 49(98%), 35(70%) students had attended ECG classes, 35(70%) students had says ECG recording as part of exam, majority of the (94%) students has accepted that they performed or assisted recording ECG on patient, majority of the students (44%) has accepted that they had attended workshop or webinar on ECG, 76% students sometimes asking help for ECG recording, majority 31(62%) nursing students had average knowledge in recording ECG, majority 48(96%) nursing students of sample had an high self reported practices towards recording ECG.
Conclusion: The associations between knowledge with ask help for recording ECG. The result indicates that there is significant association between ask help for recording ECG with knowledge on recording ECG (x2=12.73) as (p<12.59).
