ABSTRACT: The provision of high-quality, vital healthcare services is dependent on patient safety. Since healthcare systems have become more sophisticated and patient health risk has increased as a result of this the field of patient safety has increased its importance. One of the most crucial responsibilities of nurses is administering medication, as negligence in this area can have negative effects on patients. The study was designed to assess the staff nurses' knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding the prevention of medication errors. A quantitative research approach with a descriptive research design was used in the present study. A non-probability convenient sampling technique was used to select 50 staff nurses from various wards at MGM Hospital Kamothe, Navi Mumbai. The study findings showed that 60% of staff nurses had 1 to 5 years of experience and 86% of those between 20 to 30 years of age had finished GNM nursing. The majority of 31 (62%) staff nurses had average knowledge, 47 (94%) staff nurses had favourable attitude, and all 50 (100%) staff nurses had moderate level observed practices regarding the prevention of medication errors. Results indicated that there was a significant association between the education of staff nurses and knowledge regarding the prevention of medication errors. The researcher concluded that continual education programs and adequate training is necessary to prevent the incidence of medication errors and improve the staff nurses’ knowledge and practices regarding medication error.
