Children are the valuable asset of the nation. The parents and environment are influencing the behaviour pattern of the children in positive as well as negative way. Corona virus create a larger impact in human life irrespective of all age groups. The entire world is affected by COVID virus and create huge effect on morbidity and mortality. In addition, it has changes in the lifestyle and behaviour pattern of the individual. The researcher is aimed to assess the parent perception on child behaviour during the COVID 19 lockdown. The child behaviour questionnaire was used to assess the child behaviour. After the IEC clearance 371 study participants were chosen by simple random sampling and consent taken from the study participants (parents of children 6 – 14 years) in the urban centre. The information was obtained from the parents regarding the children behaviour before and during COVID 19 lockdown. The children behaviour was classified in to effortful control, negative affect and surgency.
The result show before COVID 19 lockdown effortful control, negative affect and surgency had the value of 96.4% mean and SD 1.9542±0.20938, 95.1% mean & SD was 1.9515±0.21515 & 94.3% mean & SD was 1.9434±0.10341respectively. Whereas after the COVID lockdown their behaviour got changed that is ineffective in controlling their behaviour it was increased from 4.6% to 26.1% mean and SD 1.7385±0.44002. The controlling the negative affect rose from 4.9% to 13.2%1.8194±0.3852and the insurgency was from 5.7 % to 10.8% 1.8946±0.30749. The overall behaviour pattern of children before COVID 19 mean & SD was 1.9892±0.10341 whereas during lock down it was 1.8356±0.37116. To recapitulate, there is a definite change in children behaviour pattern due to COVID 19 Lockdown. It’s the responsibility of the health care professionals and parents to monitor the child behaviour and give moral support to overcome the issues.
