| Abstract: | The main objective of herbal soap preparation is for getting completely natural option for cleansing purpose. The process used is saponification . Saponification is the process in which triglycerides are combined with a strong base to form fatty acid metal salts during the soap-making process. The distribution of unsaturated and saturated fatty acid determines the hardness, aroma, cleansing, lather, and moisturizing abilities of soaps. Hygiene is the practice of keeping oneself and one's surrounding clean in order to prevent illness or disease. consequently skin hygiene includes both skin cleaning and also taking care of it’s health. Among humans, cleansing has come along way beyond dirt removal. It is a ritual performed by man since the time of his origin and has been an essential part of religious ceremony and belief . In recent times the act of cleansing to many people serves as a means of relaxation and escape from the vagaries of everyday life, and also as a way to improve the skin health and appearance. Herbal soap was formulated by using Curcuma longa ,citrus limon ,Olea europea L, cocos nucifera, Theobroma cocoa ,Vitellaria paradoxa , Ricinus communis ,Prunus amygdalus dulcis and evaluated by various physical and chemical parameters and it gave good results . Turmeric has anti-microbial and anti-bacterial properties so the soap also can be used to treat acne with cleansing. |
