India at present has the largest population of adolescents. The population of individuals aged 10 -19 years in the world was 110 crore and India has 25.32 crore. As per the Census 1011, the population of adolescents’ in Maharashtra accounting 2.13 crore
Considering the specific needs of adolescents’ the investment in adolescent development and participation can accelerate to fight against poverty, inequality and gender discrimination. It is essential to prepare adolescents of today to deal with health literacy, unemployment, explosive urbanization and migration, climate change etc. Adolescent recognize that they are not only the future but also firmly part of the present living, working, contributing to households, communities, societies and economies .This could be effectively done through a targeted program such as Life skills education for adolescents.
