At present, sustainability is becoming the most pressing issue of the generation of our own and our children. This stems from the fact that to a great degree, mankind exists at the cost of the world and in the near future, will therefore destroy its own environment.
In this sense, sustainability implies the consistency of not being detrimental to the environment or the loss of natural resources, thus fostering ecological, social and governmental equilibrium in the long term.
This is why the Sustainable Finance project has been started by the European Commission. The concept behind this initiative is that as a major global economic player, the financial services sector has to make an acceptable contribution to sustainability.
