Abstract: Employment generally means a paid work mutually agreed between the employer and the employee. In other words, this term is applied for an individual who is hired for salary to perform the tasks of the organization. The growth of industrialization has had a great impact on various countries. There are many industries which do not function continuously for a year (like leather, textile, etc). Sometimes the demand may decrease and in other times demand may increase drastically. In these circumstances, the employers look for quality services from the employees for a short period of time. Hence, the term Fixed-Term Employment. There is a need for regulations to govern this kind of employment as there is risk of unjust practices followed by the employer like default of payments, etc. The main focus of this study is to compare the concept of fixed term employment under the Industrial Standing Orders, Industrial Relations Code, International Labour Organization and with different countries. This paper also contains the flaws in each of the regulation. This paper will assist us in determining which regulations will satisfy both employers and employees and what changes can be made to meet a given requirement.
