ABSTRACT: Background: Menopause is one of the stages of life for women that cause a wide variety of symptoms, effects and limitations. Menopause is described as a period of psychological difficulties that changes the lifestyle of women in multiple ways. Menopausal women require more information regarding different coping strategies. The aim of this study was to review the coping strategies in menopause women. Statement of the problem: A study to assess the effectiveness of Acupressure and Autogenic relaxation training on coping strategies of bidimentional problem among menopausal women in selected community areas at Madurai district. Objectives: (1) To identify the menopausal women with menopausal symptoms at a selected community area , Madurai district. (2). To verify the knowledge of coping strategies among Group A & B. (3). To analyze the effectiveness of Acupressure and Autogenic relaxation therapy in Menopausal women. (4). To compare the effectiveness of Acupressure and Autogenic relaxation therapy in Menopausal women.(5)To find out the association between the selected demographic variables of Menopausal women & effect of Intervention (Acupressure and Autogenic relaxation therapy) in selected community area, Madurai district. Design: Experimental design was used. Setting: The study was conducted among Menopausal women in a Selected community area at Madurai district. Sample size: Sample size for the study was 60 samples, who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Sampling technique: Convenience sampling technique was used to select the sample. Data collection procedure: The written permission was obtained for conduction the study among Menopausal women in south zone of Madurai district. The period of data collection was one month. The research purpose and the nature of the study were explained to the subjects and were assured of confidentially of the data collection. After maintained good rapport with the subject, the researcher selected the women between the age group of 45-60 years. Each women was interviewed separately in Tamil. Interview lasted for 30 minutes. Pre test, handouts and demonstration of acupressure and relaxation therapy and post for both experimental group I and experimental group II. Result: Result of this study reveals that the was significantly useful to improve the knowledge regarding coping strategies of menopausal symptoms among women. Conclusion: The demonstration was effective in Acupressure experimental group than Autogenic relaxation training group.
