Abstract: This research paper aims to analyze the presence of homoeroticism in the iconic Indian film Sholay, directed by Ramesh Sippy. While Sholay is primarily known as a blockbuster action-adventure film, this study delves into the subtextual dimensions of the movie and examines the portrayal of male-male relationships that display homoerotic undertones. Through a critical analysis of key scenes, character dynamics, and cultural context, this research explores how the film subtly presents homoerotic elements that contribute to its enduring popularity and cultural significance. It also aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the presence of homoeroticism in the acclaimed Indian film Sholay. By examining the cultural context, representation of male-male relationships, symbolism, impact of censorship, audience reception, and interpretation, this study sheds light on the subtextual dimensions that contribute to the film's enduring popularity. The findings of this research will contribute to a better understanding of queer representation in Indian cinema and its impact on society. Moreover, it invites further exploration into the nuances of homoeroticism in popular culture and the ways in which it challenges societal norms and stereotypes.
