Abstract: The economic growth of any country depends upon its commerce and industries. Indian economy is one of the fastest growing economies in the world with an annual growth rate of 8.7% as per World Bank Data for year 2021. The Indian economy not only attracts foreign direct investment but also changes the policies and acts to make India one of the best places for industrial growth. Harmonious relation between management and workers plays a vital role in the industry’s growth. Indian industries changed a lot since independence. The Indian Government took a lot of efforts in reforming the laws to ensure harmonious industrial relation by framing and altering Indian laws applicable to the industries. The Industrial Dispute Act framed in year 1947 was aimed to prevent the rights of the labours along with ensuring economic growth of the business without compromising on human rights. The similar acts, The Trade Union Act 1926, and The Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act 1946 also having the same objective. To simplify the laws related to the Industrial harmony, Indian Government conceptualized four codes in year 2002. These codes framed to make the implantation process simpler than the earlier applicable act. The Code on Industrial Relations, 2020 framed in combination of three major acts to make simplify the implementation of the code. The research paper focused on the main differences in the new code of industrial relation against the old prevailing laws and their impact on the Indian economy and industrial relations.
