Infrared spectroscopy is one of the most broadly used analytical techniques for the analysis of various forms of pharmaceutical as well as microbiological fields. FTIR spectroscopy technique is the powerful optical spectroscopy based on the vibration measurement of an excited molecule by IR radiation at a specific wavelength, which identifies the vibrational characteristics of functional groups of chemicals in a sample and that gives information about the structure of a compound. It is the fastest and non-destructive analytical method. However, it is suitable in analysing solid, liquid and biotechnological pharmaceutical forms. The present review portrays a concise account of the recent applications of FTIR in various fields is highlighted such as in the biological field, geochemical research, and analysis of herbal drugs and oils is identified
