Abstract
The terms "nutrition" and "pharmaceutical" make up the term "nutraceutical." Nutraceuticals are products that are either foods or components of foods and have a considerable positive impact on health when consumed. Nutraceuticals and nutritional therapy have grown in popularity in the prevention and treatment of diseases because they are sources of nutrients and energy as well as having potential therapeutic benefits. The treatment of diseases like obesity, cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, Alzheimer's, cardiovascular, Parkinson's, and COVID 19, among others, has greatly benefited from their use. Both contemporary and conventional biotechnology techniques are used to generate and develop nutraceuticals. Non-traditional nutraceuticals include (recombinant and fortified nutraceuticals), chemical nature, and mode of action. Traditional/conventional nutraceuticals contain chemical components (nutrients, herbs, and phytochemicals), probiotic bacteria, and nutraceutical enzymes. The food sector adopted a research-oriented strategy similar to that of the pharmaceutical industry, ushering in a new era of the nutraceutical revolution's promised medical and health benefits.
