ABSTRACT A study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of Kneading technique on joint pain in among oldage people in selected sure trust home in vattamalai. Background of the study: Joint pain is a major musculo skeletol condition among the elderly, and its incidence rises with age. Joint pain reduces physical activity and impairs ones quality of life. It is depent on many things such as family history, physical activity, environmental conditions& trauma. It is the second common rheumatologic problem with a prevalence of 22% to 39% in india. Joint pain is more common in women than men. Health is the state of being free from illness or injury. World health organization in 1948,“Health is a state of complete physical,mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity”.In 1986, WHO made further clarifications, “A resource foreveryday life, not the objective of living. Health is a positive concept emphasizing social and personal resources, as well as physical capacities”.(WHO – 1948). people who are older are more likely to suffer frommultiple problems at the same time. Aging is associated with changes in dynamic biological, physiological, environmental, psychological, behavioural and social processes. Hence, the investigator decide to conduct a study to assess the effectiveness of kneading technique on joint pain among old age people in sure trust home in vattamalai at namakkal district.. Objective:  To assess the level of joint pain among old age people with joint pain before kneading technique in experimental and control group.  To compare the effectiveness of kneading technique on level of joint pain among old age people in experimental group and control group.  To find out the association between the post test level of joint pain among old age with joint pain and their selected demographic variables. Research Approach :- The section of research approach is basic procedure for the conduction of research studies. A research approach leads us to know what way data to collect and how to analysis it. In view the nature of the problems selected for the study and objectives to be accomplished quantitative evaluative research was considered as an appropriate research approach for the present study. Research Methodology: Quasi-Experimental design was adopted in this study. The study was conducted among the old age people at sure trust home in vattamalai for experimental group and control group. 20 samples for each group was selected using convenience sampling technique. Data collection was done by using Modified Lower Extremities Functional Scale. Kneading technique was administered for experimental group. The data gathered were analyzed by descriptive, inferential statistical method and interpretation was done on the basis of the objectives of the study. Findings of the Study The result shows the mean post test score in experimental group was 33 whereas in the control group, the mean post test score is 11. The mean difference was 30.9. The obtained independent ‘t’ value was 13.89 which is more than the tablevalue (p=2.00) with the degree of freedom 58 at 0.05 level of significance. Hence the Research Hypothesis (H1) is accepted. Conclusion From the results of the study, it is concluded that rendering Kneading technique to the old age people with Arthritis was effective in reducing the joint pain.
