You need a silver fork to eat good food. Cost of the food affects the Health Nutrition. The History of Food and Beverages is as old as humans themselves. World war II prepared a fertile ground for innovations in the food industry, as food was rationed and prices were regulated, better preservatives and flavouring agents were developed. This paved the way for instant foods. The Indian Food and Beverages industry is emerging as a high-profit sector. The current market size of the Indian FNB Industry shows great potential for higher profit. Food systems – the set of processes of production, processing, marketing, distribution, purchasing, and consumption of food, together with the consumer practices, resources, and institutions in these processes – are major determinants of food quality and choices and consequently nutritional status and health. The private sector – from multinationals to smallholder farmers – is the engine that drives food systems, with the food and beverage (F&B) industry playing a unique and powerful role. The F&B sector has a disproportional impact on nutrition and health outcomes as the “nutrition transition” in low and middle-income countries (LMICs) has shown, with increased consumption of sugar, fats, refined grains, and highly processed foods. FNB business and strategy of cost cutting to gain more profits are affecting the health and nutrition of the people. Use of hazardous chemicals and preservatives to increase the shelf life of the food leads to poor health and nutrition. Overall, our food system needs an urgent and sustainable transformation. To achieve this, governments must adopt a coordinated policy approach grounded in an in-depth understanding of the interlinkages between food production, environmental impacts and healthy diets. This research will spread awareness of how FNB businesses are putting people’s health at risk for their profits and how they are making profit from doing so.
