Abstract: Abstract : Diabetic mellitus describes metabolic disorder of multiple etiology characterized by chronic hyperglycaemia with disturbances of carbohydrate, lipid, protein metabolism resulting defects in inslin secretion, insulin action or both and an increased risk of complications from vascular diseases . The burden of diabetes is high and increasing globally and in developing economies like India, mainly fueled by the increasing prevalence of overweight/obesity and unhealthy lifestyles. The estimates in 2019 showed that 77 million individuals had diabetes in India, which is expected to rise to over 134 million by 2045. Hypoglycemia and weight gain are seen frequently in patients undergoing diabetic treatment which also decreases the treatment adherence. The constant loss of endogenous islet cell reserve is the main reason for the need of intensified therapies. Current treatments have not fully improved long-term beta cell function. It is desirable to move forward to obtain new drugs that offer solutions sustainable in the long term and should be able to fit the individual circumstances and preferences of patients with diabetes mellitus.The aim of this study is the standardization of the Ayurvedic drug Aragwadhadi kashayam and to evaluate the invivo anti-diabetic activity of Aragwadhadi kashayam by using wistar albino rats.
