Dye industries discharge toxic residual dyes that are harmful to the environment. Direct Red (DR) dye is considered toxic to the ecosystem. To remove it from the industrial effluent adsorption process is performed using rice husk as an adsorbent Followed by: Soaking of rice husk in 0.6 M citric acid for 2 hours and heated to 50 °C. Further it is dried, washed and heated to obtain treated rice husk. This is used to remove the dye. Dye solutions of different concentrations were prepared and a known amount of adsorbent were used to study the Effect of concentration of dye solution and amount of adsorbent on percentage of removal of direct red dye.
