Abstract-
This review aims to address gaps in the present literature about in situ gel, with a specific focus on in-situ gelling methods that extend the duration of drug presence at their intended sites. In-situ gels are particularly appealing for drugs that have very brief half-lives and strong solubility. Recently, there has been a development in the use of in-situ gelling systems as drug delivery methods to achieve both local and systemic effects. The present development of in-situ gelling systems has garnered significant interest because to the several benefits associated with in-situ polymeric delivery systems. These advantages include simplicity of administration, reduced frequency of administration, improved patient compliance, and greater comfort. This review provides a summary of the research that have assessed the use and efficacy of these systems. The purpose of this review study is to examine the formulation considerations used in developing an in-vivo drug delivery system, relevant biodegradable polymers for the sol-gel transition, characterization techniques, evaluation criteria, and commercial formulations of the in-vivo polymeric system.
