Social Media, Elections, Communication etc.
ABSTRACT This study examines the significance of social media in India, focusing on its role in political campaigns. A case study of the 2014 Indian general elections highlights the impact of social media on voter engagement, political mobilization, and election outcomes. The findings suggest that social media played a crucial role in mobilizing youth and urban voters, contributing to the electoral success of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The study demonstrates the importance of social media in Indian politics, offering insights into its potential to shape political discourse, influence public opinion, and enhance democratic engagement. The results have implications for political parties, candidates, and researchers seeking to understand the evolving landscape of political communication in India.
