DEVELOPMENT OF ANDROID BASED MOBILE APPLICATION FOR REAL TIME SOIL MOISTURE MEASUREMENT

This study presents an IoT-based soil moisture sensor system for real-time measurement in agriculture and environmental monitoring. The system, utilizing IoT technology, incorporates wireless FC-28 sensors strategically placed in the soil. Employing an Arduino UNO microcontroller, ESP8266 Wi-Fi module and Blynk application, the study assesses the system's accuracy across different soil textures and moisture levels (15% to 50%). The system demonstrates accurate measurements (3-5% difference from actual VWC) across diverse soil textures and moisture levels. Laboratory experiments consistently show average error differences ranging from 3.93% to 4.56% at different depths. Calibration experiments reveal a strong correlation (R2 values of 0.98 to 0.99) and chi-square tests confirm the sensor's accuracy. In conclusion, the developed sensor system provides reliable soil moisture measurements, making it a valuable tool for various environmental conditions.
