Abstract

Zika virus infection, caused by the Zika virus (ZIKV), has emerged as a significant global health concern, particularly due to its association with congenital anomalies and neurological complications. Despite extensive research, no specific antiviral treatment or vaccine is currently available, making the management of Zika virus infection primarily symptomatic and preventive. This review provides a detailed examination of the current strategies for managing Zika virus infection, including symptomatic care, prevention of transmission, and management of complications, with a focus on special populations such as pregnant women and those at risk of severe outcomes.
