Warm foot bath, cardiac patients with hypertension, quality of sleep.
Introduction: The main aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of warm foot
bath, in this context, warm foot bath has its significance, thus enhancing the scope of
nursing.
Objective: To assess the effectiveness of warm foot bath on sleep among cardiac patients
with hypertension.
Design: A qualitative approach using quasi experimental pretest post-test with control
group design. Participants:60 cardiac patients with hypertension were selected using a
non-probability purposive sampling in Sree Abirami hospital at Coimbatore.
Intervention: warm foot bath given 15 minutes before bed time for 3 consecutive days at
ankle level with water temperature of 400
c. Tools: the quality of sleep is assessed by
Groningen sleep quality index scale by interview method. Results: Analysis using paired
‘t” test and unpaired ‘t’ test found significant values at p<0.05 level.
Conclusion: This study points out the effectiveness of warm foot bath on quality of sleep
among cardiac patients with hypertension.
