Abstract

The aim of this paper is to understand the purpose of God in our life and to question the concept of success in a comparative manner in between what is generally understood in our society in this modern era on the one hand and most importantly how Yahweh sees success on the other hand. The methodology employed is based on critical literature review, phenomenology and Biblical methodology which is a method that seeks to shed light upon the historical processes which give rise to the biblical texts. It proceeds from textual criticism to redaction criticism, operating with the help of scientific criteria. The results show that most often, society define success in relation to fame, title, material possessions and power or ties with highly positioned personalities. However the world is full of examples of celebrities who despite all these achievement declare not to be fulfilled or simply happy, some went to the extent of committing suicide. « Greed keeps men forever poor, even the abundance of this world will not make them rich ». The Bible recommends us to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all other things will be added to us, as Christ Jesus is the only true source of joy and happiness.
