Biomedical Waste Management (BMWM) refers to the proper handling, segregation, treatment, and disposal of waste produced during healthcare activities that may pose risks to public health and the environment. Effective biomedical waste management is crucial to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, contamination, and harm to healthcare workers, patients, and the general public. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of a video assisted teaching program on biomedical waste management (BMWM) among home nursing students at Sanjeevan Higher Secondary School, Bandora, Ponda, Goa. Biomedical waste management involves the proper handling, segregation, treatment, and disposal of healthcare- related waste, which is essential to prevent the spread of infections and protect public health and the environment. A one-group pre-test and post-test design was employed to evaluate the knowledge of 42 students aged 18–24 years, selected using consecutive sampling. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection, with the tool's validity ensured by nursing experts and reliability tested using Karl Pearson's coefficient. A pilot study was conducted at Keerti Vidhyalaya Technical Institute, Siolim, and Goa, to ensure the feasibility of the methodology. The t score in the present study was 2.02 while the Chi square test in the present study showed that there is no significant association between demographic variable. The study's findings revealed that most participants were aged 18–20 years, female, and came from nuclear families. The majority had no prior clinical experience or knowledge of, and more than half had never handled biomedical waste. The video assisted teaching program significantly improved students' knowledge, highlighting its effectiveness as an educational intervention for improving understanding of biomedical waste management.
