Abstract
Holarrhena pubescens also known kunchi. It is an herb with bioactive compounds such as alkaloids, tannins, flavonoids and glycosides. It has been commonly used for treating various disease. Studies have shown its anti-diarrheal, anti-malarial, hepatoprotective, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, anti-wound healing and anti-diabetic activities. It regulate intestinal motility and reduce water and electrolyte flow, minimizing the frequency and intensity of diarrhoea. Its bark extract shows effective anti-plasmodial activity against plasmodium Fakiparum. It improve antioxidant protection reduces oxidative stress and maximum release of pro-inflammatory cytokines show heapato-protective and anti-inflammatory properties. Its alkaloids improve insulin secretion lower blood sugar levels and its tannins and flavonoids help angiogenesis and Collagen formation, speeding up wound. Healing, It also restrict cancer cell growth positively making it useful in treatment. Its chemical analysis shows the presence of many bioactive substances. The present study aim to gather well-structured information related to ethnopharmacology, phytochemical makeup and pharmacological potential of H. Pubescens.
