Abstract
Lecturer productivity (LP), measured in terms of Teaching Quality (TQ), Research Output (RO), Community Service (CS), and Students' Project supervision, is essential in attaining the goals and objectives of polytechnic education in Nigeria. However, studies have shown that LP in Public Polytechnics in Southwestern Nigeria is low. Previously, the attention was on funding, job security and lecturer productivity in in tertiary institutions. This study focused on Information and Communication Technology training (ICTT) on LP in public polytechnics in Southwestern western Nigeria. Descriptive research design was adopted for the study. The multistage sampling procedure was adopted. Four state that have state and federal polytechnics in southwestern Nigeria were used for the study, the States are Osun, Ondo, Ogun and Lagos States, the states were purposively selected, while four federal polytechnics were enumerated and non-purposively technique was used to select six state polytechnics. Seventy Heads of department (HoDs) were selected used for the study through stratified sampling technique. Proportionate to size was used to select 540 lecturers, 583 National and Higher National Diploma students. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics for analysing research questions, while Pearson correlation coefficient was used to analyse the hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. The result showed that polytechnic lecturers did not publish in textbooks; The result of hypothesis showed that ICT training (r=0.85) had significant relationship with Lecturer Productivity in Public Polytechnics in Southwestern Nigeria. ICT influenced lecturers productivity in public polytechnics in Southwestern Nigeria. Therefore, government should increase research grants to public polytechnics' lecturers for improved productivity.
