Abstract

The research project undertook was “A study to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching program on knowledge regarding reproductive health among adolescent girls in selected higher secondary schools, Kollam” .The selection of sampling technique is non probability convenience sampling technique and the sample consists of 100 adolescent girls of age between 13 and 14 years in selected higher secondary schools ,Kollam . The tool used for data collection was structured knowledge questionnaire. The data analysis of the study were based on the objectives of the study using descriptive and inferential statistics. The objectives of the study were to assess the knowledge regarding reproductive health among adolescent girls and to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching program on knowledge regarding reproductive health among adolescent girls , Kollam and to find out the association between pre-test knowledge scores regarding reproductive health among adolescent girls in higher secondary schools and selected demographic variables ( age, religion, education of father, education of mother, occupation of father, occupation of mother, area of residence, type of family, previous knowledge regarding reproductive health ).In this study samples were 100 adolescent girls of age between 13 and 14 years in selected higher secondary schools ,Kollam .In order to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching program, the sampling technique adopted was non probability convenience sampling technique. The tool used for data collection was structured knowledge questionnaire. The data analysis of the study were based on the objectives of the study using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings of the present study revealed that there was significant difference between pre-test and post-test knowledge scores on knowledge regarding reproductive health among adolescent girls in selected higher secondary schools, Kollam and there was significant association between the pretest knowledge scores regarding reproductive health among adolescent girls in selected higher secondary schools, Kollam with selected demographic variables such as age, religion, education of father, education of mother, area of residence, type of family, previous knowledge regarding reproductive health. Based on the findings, the researchers had drawn implications which were vital concerns in the field of nursing practice, nursing administration, nursing education and also for the future development.
