This comparative study investigates the quality of life and life satisfaction of elderly individuals residing in paid old age homes and within families in Kottayam district, Kerala. The research focuses on understanding the living conditions, socio-demographic details, freedom, mobility, and health-related factors affecting the elderly in these two settings. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to provide a comprehensive analysis. Socio-demographic details reveal significant differences in age, marital status, number of children, and educational qualifications between the two groups.
