Abstract :
The $ 5 trillion economy and India becoming the third largest economy in the world. Even if me take for granted that India will reach $ 5 trillion economy by 2024, one wonder what kind of society we will have the than will all the problems that India is facing resolve themselves similarly ? Will India have a more equitable and harmonious society ? Some of the problems sharing in the face are the problems of widening inequality agricultural stress, high unemployment, low human development record, rotting financial system, environment degradation, communal strife, low manufacturing growth and serious problems like war by neighboring countries, but all the above mentioned things were limited to the previous government of 2014, whose will power was not strong. This is a past-2014 India with strong will power, unwavering faith in its 130 crore population. To make the country an economy of $ 5 trillion, the growth rate will not only have to increase, but it will also have to maintain the increased growth rate. This growth rate should be 8% for the next 5 years.
“In 2014, when the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was voted to power by the world’s largest democracy, India was a USD 1.7 trillion economy. In 2019, India has become a USD 2.7 trillion economy, having added one trillion US dollars in the last five years. Our vision to become a 5 trillion dollar economy by 2024-25 is challenging, but it is realisable.” Nirmala Sitaraman said (Finance Minister of India)
