Abstract: Abstract: Groundwater is the largest fresh water resource all over the world. It plays a major role in ensuring livelihood security via use for irrigation, domestic and industrial purposes. The continuously increasing demands for irrigation of rapidly increasing paddy-wheat cultivation area and other purposes has led to excessive drafting of groundwater causing a stage of groundwater depletion in different districts of Haryana. The quality of groundwater is also deteriorating continuously due to seepage of excessively used pesticides and fertilizers. The present study has critically analyzed the block wise trends of groundwater levels in Rohtak district during the study period one decade from June 2010 to June 2020 along with evaluation of groundwater suitability for irrigation purpose. The trends of groundwater table have shown increasing levels in all the blocks with highest rate of 0.15 m/yr in Kalanaur block and highest average groundwater storage change in Rohtak block (603 ham/yr). Qualitative analysis on the bases of EC and RSC have shown that 25% and 16.6% samples were not found suitable for irrigation purpose in the district while on the basis of SAR all the samples were of good quality.
