Paper Title:
TO STUDY THE EFFECTIVENESS OF NORDIC HAMSTRING EXERCISE ON HAMSTRING FLEXIBILITY, KNEE JOINT RANGE OF MOTION AND QUALITY OF LIFE IN POST TKR INDIVIDUALS
BACKGROUND:Hamstring tightness is common in post TKR Patients. Nordic hamstring exercise (NHE) is an eccentric training of the hamstrings which can both lower the risk of hamstring strain and improve muscle performance. Parameters like muscle flexibility, range of motion and quality of life are important in these individuals. Therefore, this study was designed to find out the effect of Nordic Hamstring Exercise (NHE) in improving Hamstring muscle Flexibility, Range of Motion and Quality of life in post TKR Individuals.
AIM OF THE STUDY: To find out the effectiveness of Nordic Hamstring Exercise on hamstring flexibility, knee joint range of motion and quality of life in post TKR individuals.
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY: To find out the effect of Nordic Hamstring Exercise on hamstring flexibility, knee joint range of motion and quality of life in post TKR individuals.
EXPERIMENTAL STUDY DESIGN: Randomized control design
METHODOLOGY: Thirty subjects were recruited for the study through simple random sampling based on inclusion criteria. Participants were allocated to two groups, experimental group(15)and control group (15). Pre test analysis was conducted for both groups for Hamstring flexibility using sit and reach test, knee Joint Range of motion and Quality of life Questionnare Experimental group received NHE in addition to conventional exercise for 4 weeks whereas control group received conventional exercise for 4 weeks. Immediate post test analysis was conducted. Results: There was a significant increase in hamstring flexibility, knee joint range of motion and quality of life in Experimental group with significant value of(p-0.001).
CONCLUSION: This study revealed significant improvement in Hamstring flexibility, knee Joint Range of motion and Quality of life in post TKR individuals after 4 weeks of Nordic Hamstring Exercise(NHE).
