| Abstract: | Climate change is a global emergency that is damaging countries on different levels and in different ways. The beginning of the industrial revolution in Europe in 1750, which later spread to the imperial powers and their colonies, can be identified as the event which kickstarted the emission of fossil fuels. While the increased emissions of fossil fuels and the occurrence of natural disasters have become a part of our daily lives, the ability to deal with these disasters is not the same for every country, some being more economically strained than others. To give the situation more context, this study provides an overview of what the global north and global south are, based on their socioeconomic status. Furthermore, an analysis of how climate change has impacted countries belonging to both, the global north and south, has been given. Along with highlighting the major role the global north has played in facilitating climate change and being responsible for the damage caused by it to the countries in the global south, the study also mentions how the world is taking a united stance to recover from the climate crisis. |
