Abstract: This study focuses on the weld quality of aluminum alloys, specifically AA6061, which is crucial in various industries due to its widespread use in critical applications. The research investigates the impact of heat input as a parameter on porosity formation in Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) of AA6061 aluminum alloys. It employs a systematic experimental approach to analyze the influence of crucial welding parameters like welding current, voltage, travel speed, and shielding gas composition on porosity occurrence and severity in GMAW welded joints. Additionally, mechanical testing is conducted to assess the tensile strength and hardness of the resulting welds. The research properly explains the relationship between heat input parameters and porosity in GMAW welding of AA6061 aluminum alloys. The comprehensive data analysis can help determine optimal welding conditions to minimize porosity and enhance overall weld quality. This knowledge is essential for optimizing welding procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and achieving defect-free welds, particularly in aerospace, automotive, and construction. The study contributes to improving aluminum alloy welding processes, explicitly focusing on AA6061, offering valuable reference material for welding professionals, engineers, and manufacturers to make informed decisions regarding heat input parameters for producing high-quality aluminum alloy welds.
