Abstract: The upward trend of consumption of ultra-processed food is increasing globally and in India. Any food which is subject to processing such as canning, cooking, freezing, dehydration or milling or otherwise prepared to assure preservation of the food in transport, distribution & storage, but does not include the final cooking is called as processed food. The study aimed to assess the frequency consumption of ultra-processed food among consumers. A case study was conducted at different zones of Hyderabad. There were 100 samples from the free-living population. The control group was randomly selected. A specially designed questionnaire was developed and direct interview and online survey was done. The collected data was tabulated and analysed statistically using one sample t test and were significant at 100 and 050. The result reveals that 14% of respondents were Underweight, 34% were normal, 38% were overweight, 14% were obese. It also reveals that 67% of respondents observed weight changes due to consumption of processed food and 33% did not observed weight changes. It shows that due to excess consumption of ultra-processed foods there is direct effect on weight changes and increase in BMI and adverse side effects and in market survey it reveals that all products contain high number of sugars, salts, trans fat, sodium and potassium which causes non-communicable diseases and this packaged processed food lack in protein, healthy fat and nutrients.
