| Abstract: | In Virginia Woolf’s seminal work “A Room of One’s Own”, the theme of personal space, especially concerning women, takes center stage, Woolf eloquently explores the concept of personal space as not just a physical necessity but a profound metaphor for women’s autonomy and intellectual freedom. She asserts that a woman must have both literal and figurative “room” to think, create, and assert her identity. Woolf’s exploration of the limitations imposed on women by societal norms underscores the importance of personal space needed for gender equality and self-expression. Through her insightful analysis, Woolf invites the readers to contemplate the significance of personal space in the life of women, challenging outdated social norms and advocating for their rightful place in the literary and intellectual arena. |
