This study examined the impact of social media use on senior secondary school student's academic achievement. A stratified random selection technique was utilised to choose a sample of 500 students from different schools of Prayagraj including both rural and urban locales, 274 boys and 226 girls, who would then be employed in the study. The verbal intelligence scale developed by Dr. R.K. Ojha and K. Choudhary was one of the tools employed in this study. For social media use, the researcher created a standardised, five-point Likert scale questionnaire. The cronbach alpha method was used to determine the tool's reliability. The study's main conclusions are: 1. There is a significant difference in the usage of social media between boys and girls at the secondary school level. 2. There is a significant difference in the use of social media between the rural and urban students of the secondary school level. 3. There is a significant difference in academic achievement between boys and girls of the secondary school level. 4. There is a significant difference in the academic achievement between the rural and urban students of the secondary school level.5. There is a positive correlation between social media and the academic achievement of secondary school students.
