Abstract: Image encryption is a crucial aspect of data security, which involves the transformation of an image into an unreadable form, making it inaccessible to unauthorized parties. Chaotic maps have been increasingly used as a means of encryption due to their inherent properties of unpredictability and sensitivity to initial conditions. This paper proposes a novel image encryption scheme based on chaotic maps, which employs a chaotic logistic map. The scheme utilizes a key matrix generated by the two chaotic maps to perform a substitution-permutation network on the input image, ensuring a high degree of security. The proposed scheme is evaluated using various statistical tests and is found to be robust against attacks such as brute force, differential, and statistical attacks. Furthermore, the scheme demonstrates good performance in terms of encryption speed and is suitable for real-time image encryption applications. The results of the study suggest that the proposed scheme can be an effective solution for image encryption in various practical applications.
