The work proposes the design and implementation of a new charger for Electric vehicle running on battery with power factor improvement at frontend. The existing EV charger has many disadvantages and one of them is poor power factor. In the existing system, a conventional diode converter is used at the source end. In the new system the conventional Diode Converter Will be replaced by a modified Landsman power factor correction (PFC) converter. Modified Landsman converter is cascaded with a fly back converter which provides output DC power to the EV battery This new design has many advantages like improved power quality, low device stress, low input and output current ripple with low input current harmonics when compared to the conventional one
