Everywhere in the world, managing waste biomass is a serious challenge. Biomass poses a serious threat to both the present and future human populations when it is habitually dumped into the ground and aquatic environments. The process of converting biomass waste into valuable products, such as biochar, nano/micro nanomaterials, and bio(nano) materials for a variety of industrial applications, has been the subject of numerous research articles. It is also found to be a multi step, sophisticated process to convert biomass waste into value-added products including oil, gases, and powdered carbonaceous materials. This conversion primarily yields three unique components in the form of solid, liquid, and gas, depending on the type of biomass feedstock used and the method selected for the same. This review article has been focused on transformation of a variety of biomass waste forms, including liquid and solid forms of biomass waste, into value added commodities. Sensing/bioimaging, fuel cells, supercapacitors, batteries, polymer processing (as nanofillers), water purification, drug delivery systems, electro-catalysis, thermal insulation materials, and many other uses are among the uses for nanomaterials derived from biomass which has been discussed.
