Nitrenes, highly reactive nitrogen-centered intermediates, have long been recognized as key players in various synthetic transformations. Their unique reactivity and versatility have enabled the development of a wide range of novel methodologies for the construction of complex organic molecules. This review highlights the recent progress made in understanding the role of nitrenes in synthesis, with a particular focus on their applications in modern organic chemistry, natural product synthesis and drug development.
