Abstract: This study examines the potential for proper solid waste management (SWM) to contribute to improved health and economic conditions for disadvantaged residents in Dhaka, Bangladesh. While previous literature has focused on collection, disposal, and recycling, this study prioritizes waste management as a poverty alleviation variable. Using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, including surveys, expert interviews, and a systematic literature review, the study identifies sources of pollution and classifies conditions affecting the health-based vitality of slum dwellers. Results show that sustainable waste management can reduce disease outbreaks, improve environmental conditions, and create job opportunities. The study emphasizes the correlation between healthy living and productivity, highlighting the need for policymakers to prioritize sophisticated waste management initiatives and promote community awareness and participatory campaigns. Overall, the paper underscores the significance of SWM in fostering sustainable development, enhancing economic growth, and improving the quality of life for all residents of Dhaka. Further research is needed to ensure equitable contributions to the nation's economy and better quality of life for all.
