| Abstract: | This article aims to bring the spiritual transformation of Ebenezer Scrooge, the protagonist of the novel A Christmas Carol worked by Charles Dickens. This paper illustrates the profound change in the character of Ebenezer Scrooge, who was believed to be miserly, cold hearted and a selfish man into a generous, compassionate and socially conscious person, after invited by his dead business partner, Marley to meet the three ghosts viz., Ghost of Christmas Past, Ghost of Christmas Present and Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. This transformation after supernatural interventions, serves as a powerful message of hope and the potential for positive change in anyone. This paper also brings out the fact that faith in God isn’t enough, instead one should realise that a present is needed to look after the welfare of the poor, rather than rely on God to take poor dead to heaven. |
