Human blood cells are essential for a variety of physiological functions, including oxygen transport, immune response, and hemostasis. A person's health state may be ascertained and several disorders can be diagnosed through the quantitative and qualitative analysis of blood cells. However, manual blood cell analysis is time-consuming and labor-intensive, and it is prone to human error. Quantitative and qualitative blood cell analysis is becoming more automated and more accurate thanks to image processing technology. Algorithms are used in image processing to examine and work with digital pictures. Image processing methods can be applied in the context of blood cell analysis in order to segment blood cells from their background, classify blood cells into different types (e.g., red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets), count blood cells, and measure the size and other features of blood cells.
