Abstract: Abstract The dynamics of global industrial production in the post-Fordist era has escalated contractual jobs in India’s organised manufacturing sector as confirmed by Annual Survey of Industries data.Sustainable Development Goal 8 seeks to generate Decent Work to make economic growth inclusive, sustainable, and fair.However,making a concrete progress towards this goal requires the policy makers in labour surplus countries particularly in India to use innovative industrial policies so that interests of labour.The recent episode of swift compression of the erstwhile labour legislations into four labour codes seems to be a cosmetic change only in this regard.This paper attempts to examine whether these new labour codes would enable the growth of decent work in this sector .
