| Abstract: | In Jammu and Kashmir, the participation of women in decision-making related to agricultural activities has long been a controversial topic for ages. Although women have a significant impact in the agriculture sector, they are still frequently neglected and excluded from decision-making. Women are responsible for farming and other agricultural labour but their contribution to decision-making such as cultural norms, and patriarchal attitudes favour men in leadership roles. In recent years, many efforts have been taken to empower women and to give them a greater voice in decision-making related to agricultural activities such as training programmes and community-based organizations that will focus on the empowerment of women. However, as studies have shown empowering women can result in higher productivity, better food security, and better living conditions, there has been an increment in the value of women’s input in decision-making. This review paper seeks to examine the existing level of women’s involvement in agricultural decision-making in Jammu and Kashmir and to pinpoint the obstacles to their full participation. Additionally, it looks at the possible advantages of more women participating in decision-making and offers tactics for fostering greater equality in Jammu and Kashmir’s agricultural sector. |
