Abstract: This research delves into the pivotal transition occurring in Delhi's public transportation system, marked by the shift from Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to electric buses (e-buses). As Delhi grapples with severe air pollution, the government's initiative aims to address environmental concerns by adopting eco-friendly e-buses. The study centres on the experiences of recently transitioned e-bus drivers, exploring motivations, challenges, and implications. Recognizing the significance of this shift, the research aims to guide policymakers by offering insights into economic considerations, operational challenges, and technological aspects faced by frontline drivers. The qualitative design, using thematic analysis, explores the diverse perspectives of e-bus drivers, providing a nuanced understanding of their experiences. The findings, derived from the Mayapuri E-bus depot, shed light on economic disparities, operational inefficiencies, and positive environmental contributions. The study recommends urgent government intervention to accelerate the adoption process, address economic challenges, invest in training programs, optimize charging infrastructure, and enhance technology for a seamless transition. By acknowledging the duality of experiences and offering strategic recommendations, this research contributes to shaping a sustainable and transformative electric bus initiative in Delhi's public transportation landscape.
