Abstract: The study sought to examine approaches for strengthening gender equality. Despite the passage of CEDAW in 1979, women still face discrimination that affects their contributions to societal development. Several interventions have been employed to achieve CEDAW's far-reaching goals. The present review is premised on reviewing and synthesizing literature on social justice and gender equality. Moreover, emphasis was placed on behavior change interventions and cognitive realignments to support CEDAW objectives. The study adopted a systematic review method with relevant research material drawn from appropriate databases. Thirteen studies were deemed appropriate and relevant to this investigation based on the eligibility criteria. Qualitative studies (n=9) and quantitative papers (n=4) were analyzed. The findings revealed that enhanced gender inclusion in society is frequently reported change by researchers. Gender inclusion is particularly evident in media and education interventions. However, the majority of interviews measuring/determining social change fail to produce beneficial effects related to gender equality. Gender mainstreaming strategies have a partial influence on results, hence doubting their effectiveness in practice. Awareness creation and education have partial beneficial influences. Consequently, these interventions have made little changes regarding gender equality.
