This paper examines the intricate relationship between humans and trees as portrayed in ‘The Overstory’ by Richard Powers and ‘Greenwood’ by Michael Christie. Through a comparative analysis, we explore how both novels employ the symbolism and physical presence of trees to comment on human life, legacy, and the broader ecological crises of the modern world. This study highlights the novels' use of narrative structure, character development, and thematic exploration to advocate for a deeper, more reciprocal relationship between humanity and the natural world.
